Heritage Day event at museum will feature several collections

Heritage Day will be celebrated from noon to 5 p.m. Aug. 7 at the Ward-Thomas Museum, 503 Brown St.

Visitors will have the opportunity to visit all of the buildings and view special private collections and demonstrations.

Mahoning Valley freelance artist and cartoonist Rick Muccio will create personal sketches for visitors.

Barb James of Berlin Center will display her extensive button collection.

Other displays throughout the buildings include a collection of purses from 1800-1900, a miniature Idora Park-theme display, an extensive matchbook collection, a wood display, Civil War memorabilia from a private collection, First Ladies’ gowns, wedding dresses and hand-painted china.

In addition there will be a quilting demonstration, live entertainment and food.

Donation is $5 for adults; children 12 and under with an adult are free.
