July 1

Theft: A man reported his checkbook stolen while at a Boardman-Canfield Road business.

Criminal damaging: A car in the 70 block of Erskine Avenue was found with damage to two doors and the driver’s seat.

Arrest: A vehicle check in the 5200 block of Market Street resulted in 44-year-old Emmanes L. Rhodes’ being taken into custody. Rhodes, of 1088 Eastway Drive, Youngstown, was wanted by Franklin County authorities on a felony charge of failure to pay court-ordered child support.

Misuse of a credit card: A Westview Drive woman discovered 41 unauthorized charges to her credit card.

Domestic violence: Police charged 25-year-old Ashraf M. Al Halaybeh, 7145 Locust Ave., Boardman, with the crime after his wife alleged an enraged Al Halaybeh had shoved her against a car, thrown her to the ground and kicked the accuser at least three times in the back during an argument. The woman suffered scrapes and cuts.

Menacing: A Brookfield Avenue woman said a neighbor threatened her.

Theft: Miesha S. Collins, 24, of 3612 Hudson Ave., Youngstown, and 28-year-old Myeshia L. Traylor, 524 Ferndale Ave., Youngstown, were charged in the theft of $54 worth of merchandise from Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road.

Citation: Police cited 45-year-old Alan K. Bott, 525 Shadydale Drive, Canfield, after saying he had been found passed out at a U.S. Route 224 business.

Criminal damaging: A plastic mailbox was damaged in the 7500 block of East Parkside Drive.

Arrest: John J. Jewell, 51, of 5009 Firnley Ave., Boardman, was charged with obstructing official business after authorities responded to a report of a car having struck a pedestrian on Market Street. Jewell refused to provide proper identification and gave an incorrect Social Security number, police said.

Theft: A $200 MP3 player was removed from a vehicle in the 50 block of Jennette Drive.

Theft: A South Avenue woman reported several pieces of jewelry missing.

Theft: A worker for a Boardman-Canfield Road discount store reported her wallet stolen.

July 2

Auto theft: A 2007 Buick Lucerne was stolen in the 4400 block of South Avenue.

Stolen property: Youngstown authorities handed to Boardman police 37-year-old Anthony M. Salata, 1640 Medford Ave., Youngstown, and John M. Real, 40, same address. Both were charged with receiving stolen property, accused in the February theft of a 1991 Buick LeSabre from a Poland man.

Assault: A 14-year-old township boy faced assault, aggravated-menacing and criminal-trespassing charges after a Southern Boulevard man reported having been punched several times during an argument regarding the boy’s use of profanities. The accuser’s mother said the teen threatened to kill her, a report showed.

Drugs: Officers booked John W. Fithian, 19, of 833 Oakridge Drive, Boardman, on a felony charge of trafficking in marijuana after investigating a vehicular accident in the 100 block of Mathews Road and saying they found four bags of suspected marijuana totaling 66 grams.

Theft: A boy was detained after being accused of stealing a bottle of soda from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Theft: A woman reported her wallet stolen while at a Southern Park Mall store.

Theft: A woman reported the theft of her $500 cellphone at the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: Peraesia S. Padgett, 20, of 370 E. Ravenwood Ave., Youngstown, was charged with taking an $8 bottle of lubricant from Walmart.

Drugs: A traffic stop in the 100 block of Shields Road led to the arrest of 27-year-old Nathan M. Vargo, 137 Shields, on charges of possession of a controlled substance, drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. Vargo admitted having suspected heroin and a needle in his car, police said.

Theft: Ashley R. Perry, 26, of 5391 W. Middletown Road, Canfield, was charged in the theft of three electrical components from Home Depot, 7001 Southern Blvd.

July 3

Burglary: To an apartment in the 4900 block of Brookwood Road through the front door. Blood-pressure medication and a set of car keys were among items missing.

Burglary: Took place in the 100 block of Melbourne Avenue. Stolen were $600 and various photographs.

Aggravated menacing: A Ron Joy Place man told police another man threatened to shoot him in the head during an ongoing argument.

Theft: Robert B. Williamson, 45, who listed addresses in Canfield and New Springfield, faced charges of theft, disorderly conduct, obstructing official business and resisting arrest after $352 worth of groceries had been stolen from Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive. Williamson also ran from and argued with store employees, then refused to cooperate with police, a report said.

July 4

Theft: A Hunting Valley Drive man discovered his wallet missing from his car.

Assault: A Straley Lane man reported two men in a car held and punched the accuser because he partially blocked the road while backing a trailer into his driveway.

Criminal damaging: Someone pushed over and broke a light pole in the 6600 block of Appleridge Drive.

Auto theft: A 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier was stolen in the 4900 block of Brookwood Road.

Aggravated menacing: A South Avenue man told authorities his former business partner sent several threatening text messages regarding money owed.

Theft: Steven M. Filimon, 25, of 1017 Bentley Ave., Youngstown, was charged, accused of taking $277.50 worth of clothing from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: Police charged 19-year-old Ashley R. Benzenhoefer, 2143 Oak Drive, New Springfield, with stealing clothing from Macy’s.

Criminal mischief: Someone placed a small explosive device in and damaged a mailbox in the 7500 block of East Parkside Drive.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 4000 block of Hillman Way was found with several intentional scratches.

Criminal damaging: A lamp post in the 700 block of Larkridge Avenue sustained $400 in damage.

Theft: A portable DVD player and $20 were missing from a car in the 2300 block of Hunters Ridge Drive.

Theft: A purse and other items were removed from two vehicles in the 8100 block of Hunting Valley Drive.

Theft/damage: A former tenant removed pipes and did other damage to a home in the 100 block of Erskine Avenue, and stole numerous items.

Theft: A debit card and several pairs of sunglasses were missing from a car in the 7800 block of Huntington Circle. The theft came to $525.

Theft: A man stole a $3 carton of ice cream from Dollar General, 5953 South Ave.

Theft: A man discovered his wallet missing while at a Boardman-Canfield Road store.

Theft: A woman at a Doral Drive business noticed her wallet had been taken.

Assaults: Five people reported having been assaulted during a fight at a Salinas Trail apartment.

July 8

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Glenwood Avenue man told police he gave another man a 2001 Ford van to sell, but that the other person failed to follow through.

Theft: A man reported his cellphone stolen in the 7000 block of Tiffany Boulevard.

Theft: Glenn M. Leyman, 31, of 1682 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, faced charges of theft and possession of criminal tools, accused of using a box cutter to open packages and stealing two bottles of cologne and a pair of gym shorts from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Theft: A worker for a Boardman-Poland Road business reported the theft of her wallet.

Harassment: An Indianola Road woman reported getting harassing and threatening calls, including one stating she would be killed.

Domestic violence: Police charged 32-year-old Shawn C. Russell, 4611 South Ave., Boardman, with the crime after a woman alleged Russell had struck the back of her head and choked her during an argument.

Drug paraphernalia: A syringe was found in a disabled vehicle near Route 224 and Southern Boulevard.

Theft: Clothing, a book bag and other items were removed from a car at the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: A woman discovered $600 had been stolen from the bank account of her mother, who’s a resident at a South Avenue long-term care center.

Domestic violence: Joshua A. Donatelli, 19, of 5985 Glenwood Ave., Boardman, was charged after Donatelli’s mother alleged he had twice shoved her, then made a threat, during an argument related to a set of car keys.

Burglary: Police, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Task Force, took 18-year-old Freeman Bankston V into custody at his residence, 30 W. Ravenwood Ave., Youngstown, on a burglary charge after he had been accused of breaking into a home in the 100 block of Homestead Drive. Youngstown police charged Bankston with being a convicted felon with a firearm and possession of a dangerous ordnance, both felonies, after saying they found a sawed-off shotgun in his home.

July 9

Theft: A car stereo was removed from a vehicle in the 100 block of Terrace Drive.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 5900 block of Glenwood Avenue was found with damage to its passenger-side mirror as well as scratches on a window. The estimate was $800.

Arrest: Police responded to a suspicious person near a Boardman-Poland Road fitness center, then charged 18-year-old John J. Delliquadri, 7080 Spartan Drive, Boardman, with obstructing official business and resisting arrest after saying Delliquadri had led them on a brief foot pursuit.

Vandalism: A Huntington Circle woman noticed damage to three flower pots.

Theft: A stethoscope, a blood-pressure cuff and a gym bag were taken from a vehicle in the 60 block of Clifton Drive.

Trespassing: Someone illegally entered a car in the 40 block of Willow Drive, though nothing appeared to have been stolen.

Criminal mischief: A racial epithet was written on two of a vehicle’s windows in the 8000 block of Hunters Cove Drive.

Theft: A woman reported her wallet stolen at a Boardman-Poland Road store.

Theft/damage: Someone in the 4800 block of Southern Boulevard broke a car window and removed a $300 MP3 player.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: Officers arrested 23-year-old Correy J. Naypaver, 1475 Doncaster Drive, Boardman, on a felony charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle after saying they located in Naypaver’s driveway a 1996 Honda Accord that had been stolen from a Youngstown woman.

Vandalism: Police picked up Darius R. Holcomb, 25, of 758 Pineview St., Youngstown, who was at the Mahoning County jail. He faced a felony vandalism charge after being accused of damaging a car in the 4200 block of Hillman Way.

Drugs: Deandre R. Jenkins, 23, of 452 W. Hylda Ave., Youngstown, was arrested on a felony charge of trafficking in drugs after officers pulled him over on East Midlothian Boulevard. Jenkins, who also was wanted on a probation-violation charge, had three bags of suspected marijuana packaged for sale, police said.

Drugs: Police in the 1100 block of Boardman-Poland Road charged 21-year-old Jose L. Garriga-Gonzalez, 3614 Beechwood Place, Youngstown, with a misdemeanor count of possession of dangerous drugs after saying they found an unmarked pill bottle with white pills.

Counterfeit: A fake $20 bill was passed at Taco Bell, 458 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Theft: Samantha Stout, 19, of Hilliard, Ohio, was charged with stealing 15 energy drinks from Walmart.

Theft: A $300 car stereo was removed from a vehicle in the 100 block of Terrace Drive.

Criminal mischief: Someone tossed eggs at a car in the 1800 block of Oles Avenue.

Identity fraud: A township man told police he received two letters from a South Avenue business stating he owes about $190, but that someone else likely had used his store card.

Assault: A Tam-O-Shanter Drive woman alleged her boyfriend had pulled her hair, bit and kicked her, then threatened to kill them both, during an argument.

Theft: A 16-year-old Shaker Heights, Ohio, boy was charged with stealing a $160 wristwatch from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall, then released to the custody of his mother.

July 10

Burglary: To an apartment in the 7100 block of Glendale Avenue through the front door. It was unknown if anything was missing.

Theft of services: An employee of Subway, 1393 Boardman-Canfield Road, discovered someone had used a trash bin belonging to the eatery without permission.

Stolen property: Authorities charged 25-year-old Jeremy C. Bell, 5205 Trotter Drive, Boardman, with receiving stolen property and possession of criminal tools, both misdemeanors. While investigating a suspicious person, police determined that Bell had a global-positioning-system device that had been stolen from a Falls Church, Va., couple, a report showed.

Assault: A North Cadillac Drive man told police a woman at his residence became angry and struck his head with an object.

Vandalism: A security door to an apartment complex in the 7100 block of Glendale Avenue sustained $800 in damage.

Criminal damaging: A woman left a South Avenue store and noticed scratches on her car.

Domestic violence: Authorities picked up 20-year-old Jessica L. Willmitch at her Youngstown residence, 3828 Palmetto Drive, on a warrant after a Melrose Avenue man reported having been assaulted and injured.

Arrest: Joshua W. Koch, 34, of 3974 S. Schenley Ave., Boardman, was arrested on a warrant from Hubbard accusing him of failing to appear in court to face a charge of failing to pay income taxes.

Burglary: Someone broke into an office at the Travelers Inn, 6110 Market St., through a rear door and took an undisclosed amount of money.

Arrest: Harold Oliver Jr., 33, of 5011 Brookwood Road, Boardman, faced felony counts of domestic violence, aggravated burglary and disrupting public services after someone in the 4600 block of Southern Boulevard called 911 and hung up. A woman later alleged Oliver had entered her Southern Boulevard residence without permission, assaulted her and destroyed the accuser’s cellphone so she could not contact authorities.

Drugs: A traffic stop on Glenwood Avenue resulted in 22-year-old Andrew D. Stanton’s arrest on charges of possession of drug-abuse instruments and obstructing official business. Stanton, of 26 N. Navarre Ave., Austintown, had a syringe, then provided a false Social Security number, a report said.

July 14

Theft: A $170 set of eyeglass frames was stolen from Hometown Vision, 133 Boardman-Poland Road.

Possible assault: A Campbell woman reported her 2-year-old daughter told her that the girl had been struck in the head at a township child-care center. The mother, however, found no injuries or other evidence of an assault, a report showed.

Identity theft: A Bob-o-Link Drive man noticed 13 unauthorized charges totaling $357 to his credit card.

Aggravated menacing: A worker for a Tiffany Boulevard insurance agency told police an irate client made about 15 threatening calls expressing dissatisfaction about the handling of a 2009 claim he had filed.

Harassment: A Southern Park Mall business received roughly 60 such calls.

Theft: A woman at an East Midlothian Boulevard discount store noticed $20 missing from her wallet.

July 15

Assault: Two people were assaulted during a fight in the 7300 block of Salinas Trail. One person had redness to the neck.

Theft: Hope E. Sapp, 25, of 800 Chester Ave., East Liverpool, faced charges of theft and obstructing official business after three articles of women’s clothing were stolen from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road. Sapp also changed her story several times when confronted about the circumstances related to the theft, police said.

Identity fraud: A Mill Creek Boulevard woman accused her former boyfriend of fraudulently opening two credit-card accounts with her information. They showed balances of $9,857 and $6,707.

Theft: Jessica M. Garrett, 21, of 324 Lincoln Ave., Struthers, was charged in the theft of two 20-ounce drinks from a Shell gas station, 5135 Market St. Garrett also was charged with possession of drug-abuse instruments and resisting arrest.

Vandalism: Graffiti was spray painted on the rear of a building in the 80 block of Boardman-Poland Road.

Burglary: To a residence in the 600 block of Plymouth Drive through the garage. Two MP3 players, a cellphone and $60 were missing.

Arrest: Officers picked up 20-year-old Zachery D. Archuleta, 513 Eighth St., Struthers, at the Columbiana County jail on charges of intimidation, a third-degree felony, as well as one misdemeanor count each of assault and aggravated menacing. Archuleta’s girlfriend, of Boardman, alleged he had struck, bitten and threatened her, then threatened to harm her if she filed charges, a report said.

Theft: Antoinette G. Bray, 32, of Maple Heights, Ohio, was charged with theft and obstructing official business after perfume and children’s clothing were stolen from T.J. Maxx & More, 717 Boardman-Poland Road. Bray also lied about her identity, police said.

Fraud: A Cook Avenue woman told authorities she bought four $300 gift certificates for $500, but discovered the certificates had a zero balance.

Theft: Two women stole nail and cosmetics supplies from Sally Beauty Supply, 395 Boardman-Poland Road.

July 16

Theft: A $500 cellphone was stolen from AT&T, 7125 Tiffany Blvd.

Theft: A motorcycle’s rear license plate was removed in the 7100 block of Tiffany Boulevard.

Theft: A Chester Drive woman reported a man stole a $20 TV stand she intended to sell.

Arrests: Authorities responding to a possible domestic situation charged 19-year-old Tyler Hupp, 119 Erskine Ave., Boardman, with obstructing official business and resisting arrest, as well as Dylan A. Yuhas, 20, of 166 Afton Ave., Boardman, with obstructing official business. Hupp also was cited on a charge of marijuana possession.

Theft: Several yard signs were stolen from homes in Angiline Estates as well as on Park Harbour and Creston drives and Erskine Avenue.

Arson: Officers assisted township firefighters with a car fire in the 6000 block of Applecrest Court. The vehicle was engulfed in flames, and two other cars sustained fire damage, a police report said.

Auto theft: Authorities charged 18-year-old Trevon D. Weaver, 211 E. LaClede Ave., Youngstown, with receiving stolen property after saying Weaver admitted having stolen a 1999 Buick LeSabre police recovered at the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: A woman in the 300 block of Boardman-Poland Road discovered her purse missing from her vehicle.

Theft: Police charged a 16-year-old Youngstown girl with the theft of $81 worth of items from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Drugs: Police on Afton Avenue pulled over 21-year-old Ashley A. Wilkinson, 4092 Brookwood Road, Boardman, and charged her with possession of drugs after saying Wilkinson had a bottle of 90 pills with someone else’s prescription.

Theft: Amanda Cotton, 21, of 420 S. Garland Ave., Youngstown, and a 17-year-old city girl were charged with stealing $67 worth of clothing and beauty products from Walmart.

July 17

Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s windshield was smashed in the 5000 block of Firnley Avenue.

Drugs: Officers took 27-year-old John D. Brozman into custody at his home, 5620 W. Middletown Road, Canfield. Brozman was wanted on a township warrant accusing him of possession of drug-abuse instruments.

Assault: A Salem woman in the 4000 block of South Avenue alleged her boyfriend had pushed her, causing the accuser to hit her head.

Arrest: Police responded to a vehicular accident in the 300 block of Mathews Road, then charged 24-year-old Steven S. Moses, 331 Mathews, Boardman, with obstructing official business after saying Moses provided inconsistent information related to the accident.

Criminal mischief: Someone tossed two tires and a piece of wood into a swimming pool at Applewood Swim & Tennis Club, 850 Teakwood Drive.

Arrest: Police in the 1700 block of Lynn Mar Avenue arrested 60-year-old Robert W. Lauer of Mathews Road, Boardman, on a felony warrant from Wayne County, Ohio, charging him with sex crimes.

Theft: A man who had lost his credit card later discovered $200 worth of unauthorized charges made from two township businesses.

Theft: Two women in their 20s took $200 worth of merchandise from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.

Criminal mischief: An obscenity was spray-painted on the road in the 1900 block of Cover Drive.

Arrest: A traffic stop in the 100 block of Maple Drive led to the arrest of 31-year-old Joshua I. White, 716 Glendale Ave., Boardman, on two warrants from Youngstown.

Domestic violence: A charge was pending against a woman after an Applecrest Court man alleged she had struck him multiple times in the face, causing cuts and swelling.

Theft: A man reported $126 and a credit card missing from his locker at a McClurg Road business.

Drugs: Police responded to suspicious activity in the 20 block of Homestead Drive, then charged 25-year-old Daniel T. Dellick, 34 Crestline Place, Boardman, with possession of drug-abuse instruments after saying two hypodermic needles were found.

Theft: A woman reported the theft of a laptop computer from her apartment in the 400 block of Mathews Road.

Assault: Jermelle M. Denson, 36, of 4100 Hillman Way, Boardman, surrendered on a misdemeanor charge after Denson’s girlfriend alleged he had struck her several times in the head during an argument.

July 21

Arson: Authorities assisted township firefighters with a fire that had been intentionally set at Smoker Friendly, 4927 Market St. Two mattresses next to gas meters were on fire, a police report said.

Arrest: Police charged 49-year-old Hubie L. McMeans, 360 W. Delason Ave., Youngstown, with aggravated robbery, assault and theft after two purses had been stolen from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall. McMeans also stole a man’s keys after threatening to shoot him in an attempted carjacking on Market Street, a report said.

Theft: Nicole L. Degenaro, 28, of 1751 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, faced felony charges of theft and possession of criminal tools after $930 worth of jewelry was stolen from Macy’s. Degenaro also had lined her purse with tin foil in an effort to circumvent the store’s security system, police said.

Theft: A dealer tag was missing from a vehicle at an East Western Reserve Road dealership.

Theft: A boys bicycle was stolen from a front yard in the 7300 block of Salinas Trail.

Theft: A woman reported her purse and a $250 cellphone stolen while at a South Avenue grocery store.

Theft: A 17-year-old township boy was arrested at his home on charges of theft and domestic violence after his mother discovered her debit card missing. The teen also was accused of threatening to kill his mother and shoving his sister, causing her to fall.

Theft: Inez L. Garcia, 32, of 3916 Fourth St., Struthers, and 40-year-old Lori B. Vitko, 3914 Fourth, were charged in the theft of about $244 worth of merchandise from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Criminal damaging: A car in the 1400 block of Turnberry Drive was struck with several eggs.

Harassment: A Truesdale Avenue woman told police her sister-in-law has been making belligerent and unwanted cell-phone calls.

Theft: The owner of a South Avenue restaurant reported an intoxicated woman was unable to pay her $35 bill, though no charges were brought against her.

Theft: Several pieces of jewelry were removed from a vehicle in the 200 block of Brookfield Avenue. The loss came to about $4,320.

Theft of services: One of the owners of Subway, 1393 Boardman-Canfield Road, reported someone has been continually dumping garbage in the eatery’s trash bin without permission.

Robbery: Authorities charged Valencia M. Howard, 23, of 1755 Ogden Ave., Warren, with robbery after $37 worth of clothing was stolen from Old Navy Clothing Store, 377 Boardman-Poland Road. Howard, who also was wanted on a contempt-of-court charge, struggled with an off-duty Ohio State Highway Patrol officer, a report said.

July 22

Fraud: A Southern Boulevard woman accused a family member of cashing eight child-support checks totaling $1,218 without permission.

Arrest: Officers near Leighton Avenue arrested 21-year-old Ashley A. Wilkinson, 177 Marion St., Struthers, on township warrants charging her with receiving stolen property and possession of drug-abuse instruments.

Fraud: An employee with Kay Jewelers Inc. in the Southern Park Mall told police a man and a woman used phony information to open a credit-card account, then used the card to buy $8,737.42 worth of merchandise. The two tried a similar scam at another mall jewelry store, a report showed.

Misuse of a credit card: A man learned his credit card was used without authorization at two businesses after his wallet had been stolen from a locker at a McClurg Road business.

Arrest: Police on Sierra Madre Trail picked up 21-year-old Nathan M. Shores, 7421 Sierra Madre, Boardman, who was wanted by Cuyahoga County authorities on two felony counts each of burglary and theft.

Arrest: A traffic stop near Southern Boulevard led to 44-year-old Dale L. Edmonds’ arrest. Edmonds, of 3313 Southern, Boardman, was wanted by Trumbull County authorities.

Arrest: Police booked 20-year-old Derek J. Higham, 280 Wildwood Drive, Boardman, on a charge of possession and use of fireworks, a first-degree misdemeanor, after a Glendale Avenue man reported fireworks had been detonated in his front yard in an effort to harass him.

July 23

Theft: Michael G. Moore, 20, of 6110 Market St., Boardman, was charged with stealing popcorn from Walmart.

Theft: A $170 DVD player was removed from a car in the 40 block of McClurg Road.

Theft: A worker for a Boardman-Canfield Road fast-food restaurant noticed a drawer was $7 short.

Arrest: Jacqueline A. Kather, 21, of 4441 Southern Blvd., Boardman, was taken into custody on a misdemeanor warrant from Warren.

Theft: A man discovered $2,000 worth of jewelry and money missing from his home in the 5900 block of Parkland Avenue.

Theft: A woman in her 30s stole $40 worth of hair products from Dollar General, 5953 South Ave.

July 24

Theft: A man returned to his residence in the 700 block of Indianola Road and discovered a safe with $1,200, a handgun and laptop computer missing, for an estimated $2,700 loss.

Domestic violence: Marquis R. Perry, 28, of 557 E. Florida Ave., Youngstown, was charged with the crime after his wife, of Hudson Drive, alleged Perry had struck her head during an argument.

Domestic violence: Police charged 27-year-old Evan M. Hudson, 90 Washington Blvd., Boardman, after a family member reported having been struck several times in the face and back of the head. She suffered pain and swelling.

Drugs: Police pulled over 23-year-old Nicholas A. West on Midlothian Boulevard, then charged him with possession of drugs, drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia.
