Neighbors | Submitted.Applewood Swim and Tennis Club offers competitive youth swimming and tennis teams each summer. Pictured are several tennis players and coaches. They are, from left, Amelia Francisco, Gia Francisco, Coach Anthony Roselli, Jenna Pavlansky, Nicole Pavlansky and Carolyn Jesko.
Applewood Swim and Tennis Club, located in the Applewood Acres neighborhood of Boardman, has been available to that neighborhood for 46 years. However, many people do not realize that there are memberships available to people who do not reside in Applewood Acres.
The club has recently made some noteworthy improvements. The four tennis courts have been resurfaced and a new pool heater was installed. Other amenities at the club include a bocce court, shaded picnic areas, two covered pavilions, two diving boards, fenced in baby pool and a snack bar.
The club has activities for all ages. There are swim lessons and tennis clinics for children and competitive teams that the children can join. They then compete with other teams in the area through their respective leagues.
The adults can enjoy water aerobics, womens and mens tennis nights, as well as early morning swims.
Tom Basista is the new manager and Karen Mitchell has joined Marikay Kuntzman as co-assistant manager. For more information, visit www.applewoodswimandtennis.com.
