South Side disrupted by shootings, teen killed

YOUNGSTOWN

Police are investigating two shootings that, almost simultaneously, disrupted the quiet in two South Side neighborhoods Friday afternoon and left a teenage boy dead.

Police were called to the corner of Evergreen Avenue and Summer Street shortly after 2 p.m. for a shooting between two factions of people.

One person involved in the shooting, a 17-year-old boy police have not named, was killed in the gunfire. Police Capt. Rod Foley said the boy was taken to the hospital where efforts were unsuccessful in saving his life.
