The Steel Valley Cluster will present four AKC all-breed dog show and obedience trials from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. next Thursday to Aug. 7 at the Canfield Fairgrounds.

Judging for all AKC breeds, obedience and junior showmanship for dog owners age 10 to 18 will take place each day, as well as many one-breed shows and supported entries. Obedience will be open to mixed breeds.

The event will feature food and more than 100 dog-product vendors with a wide array of dog equipment, dog art and crafts. Attractions Aug. 5 include eye and heart exams and AKC microchipping from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and a Steel Valley scavenger hunt after Best in Show. On Aug. 6, an agility run be will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Snap 4Dx testing for tick borne and heartworm disease will be available, a junior handler clinic with professionals for all current and future junior Showmanship participants will take place, and the Eukanuba Breeder’s Stakes will be after Best in Show. Canine Good Citizen testing will begin at 9 a.m. on Aug. 7. Complimentary hospitality will be provided each morning.

Admission is $5 per vehicle. No nonparticipating dogs will be permitted.

The Steel Valley Cluster consists of the Mahoning-Shenango Kennel Club, Beaver County Kennel Club, Columbiana County Kennel Club and Fort Steuben Kennel Association. A large portion of the show’s income will be invested to charitable organizations, like local 4-H Clubs and dog projects. Two scholarships will be given to Ohio State University veterinary students.
