Colo. Springs police say 4 killed in 3 shootings

COLORADO SPRINGS. Colo. (AP) — Colorado Springs police say they don’t know what touched off a series of shootings that left four people dead and two wounded.

Police Sgt. Steve Noblitt says the three bursts of gunfire Wednesday night were unrelated and occurred in different areas of the city.

Sgt. David Edmondson says in a news release that the heaviest toll came near Montebello and Mira Loma Circle in central Colorado Springs, leaving three men dead.

Earlier in the evening, one man was killed and another person was wounded at an AutoZone store in the eastern part of town.

In yet another shooting Wednesday night, Edmondson says police officers wounded a 21-year-old man who had a handgun.
