Annual Canine Idol Contest opens

NEW CASTLE, Pa.

The Lawrence County Treasurer’s annual Canine Idol Contest is beginning.

The winning dog gets its picture on the 2012 Lawrence County dog-license renewal letter.

Send a nonreturnable recent photo, no larger than 3 inches by 4 inches, along with your name, address, phone number and the dog’s name, to Treasurer Richard Rapone, Lawrence County Government Center, 430 Court St., New Castle, PA 16101.

Voting starts Monday and ends Aug. 31. The winners will be announced Sept. 6 and will be awarded a certificate and a gift at the

Sept. 13 county commissioners meeting.
