Drugs taken from mom accused of killing Fla. teens

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Newly released court documents say at least 14 different prescription drug bottles were found in the Tampa home of a 50-year-old woman accused of killing her two teenagers in January.

Documents released today by prosecutors show that police collected pill bottles for medications prescribed to Julie Schenecker. They included lithium, used to treat bipolar disorder, and empty bottles for the strong painkillers oxydocone and hydrocodone. Anti-depressants and anti-anxiety pills were among the other drugs found in her bedroom after the slayings.

Schenecker is accused of killing their 16-year-old daughter Calyx and 13-year-old son Beau by shooting them in the head. Police have not said to what extent Julie Schenecker’s possible drug abuse may have been a factor. Friends told investigators she had been in drug rehabilitation shortly before the shootings.
