Boardman man gets 13 years for robbery, kidnapping


YOUNGSTOWN — A 30-year-old Boardman man was sentenced to serve 13 years in prison Tuesday by Judge Maureen Sweeney after he pleaded guilty to one count of robbery and two counts of aggravated robbery and kidnapping.

Robert M. Barnes pleaded guilty to holding a 74-year-old Brown’s Drug Store customer at knifepoint, taking her prescription drugs, cash and her Dodge Caravan on July 20, 2010. Barnes also pleaded guilty to a July 22, 2010, incident at Circle K, 7103 Lockwood Blvd. where police said a man stole $41 and a cashier’s wallet and Buick Park Avenue.

Barnes was arrested July 26, 2010, by U.S. marshals in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He will get one year credit for time served.
