Copper wire stolen from Penn Power poles


NEW CASTLE, pa.

Someone cut copper ground wires from at least 75 Penn Power utility poles.

Pennsylvania State Police in New Castle said the damage occurred sometime from Friday evening to 7 a.m. Saturday.

The area hit includes state Route 108 from New Castle to Mount Jackson; state Route 551 from Mount Jackson toward Enon Valley; Mount Air Road, including Jackson Knolls, from Mount Jackson South; Mohawk School Road from Mount Jackson toward Bessemer; and state Route 551 from Mount Jackson toward U.S. Route 224.

Police said a few hundred feet of wire was stolen, and loss is estimated at thousands of dollars.
