The Holburn Herb Growers Guild hosted its eighth annual Garden Tea Party July 10 at the Western Reserve Village at the Canfield Fairgrounds.

Approximately 100 attendees enjoyed finger sandwiches, cookies and a variety of hot and cold teas and lemonades while relaxing in the shade.

Attendees were also able to tour the historic buildings of the village.

Several tables were also set up around the village at which attendees could buy and try items associated with herbs, such as tussie mussies, lavender, jellies and vinegars, hand-painted framed flowers and handmade flower bookmarks.

A craft was available to the children in attendance near the children’s garden and a fancy hat contest was also held. Several musical performances were also carried out during the tea party.

According to Sue Kasmer, president of the Holburn Herb Growers Guild, the group has 40 members and maintains the herb gardens at Western Reserve Village, and has for 28 years.

“It is a great opportunity to give back to the community,” Kasmer said.

Each attendee was entered in a prize drawing and also received a tea cup and saucer. The guild also provided a favor of tussie mussies for each attendee as they left the tea party.

The guild meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Colonial Inn at the Canfield Fairgrounds.
