Armed with buckets, hoses, towels and soap, members of the Youth Collaborative of St. Michael’s Catholic Church braved the heat and humidity July 16 to raise funds to furnish their youth center and for future events during its first car wash fundraiser in the parking lot of St. Michael’s Family Life Center.

With help from adults of the church, the youth put a shine on the each of the cars that came through the car wash, including Father Terry Hazel’s 1959 Buick Invicta. Hazel brought his classic car out to help support the youth group.

According to Keith Campanelli, the Youth Collaborative’s purpose is to give the youth of the church and the community something to do and somewhere to go.

“The Youth Collaborative holds several events for the youth throughout the year, including Youth Connect, a cookout party for kids in fifth through 12th grade. It will be Aug. 21 at St. Michael’s Family Life Center and everyone is welcome,” Campanelli said.
