Sex assaults on children investigated

YOUNGSTOWN

City police are investigating the sexual assaults of two juveniles in two separate incidents.

A 13-year-old girl from Georgia visiting family on South Side told police a nonrelative 19-year-old acquaintance living in the same house in which she is staying forcefully pulled her clothes off and raped her Wednesday Morning. The girl reported the assault to an older sister and was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Police collected clothing and other items, but no arrest have been made.

A 7-year-old mentally challenged West Side boy told family members he was sexually assaulted while at a playground on North Dunlap Thursday morning.

The boy said three older boys touched and pulled his groin area ,causing pain and bleeding. Police and hospital personnel observed the boy’s groin to be swollen and red.

The boy was taken to Akron Children’s Hospital for observation. Police and children’s services are investigating the matter.
