The 34west Theater Company will present Harry Chapin’s off-Broadway hit ‘Cotton Patch Gospel’ Wednesday through July 23 and Sept. 14-17, with special weekday matinees Wednesday, Thursday and Sept. 14 and 15.

Set in rural Georgia, this modern retelling spans the life of Jesus from being “born in an apple crate” to visiting “Big R Bar-B-Q” after his resurrection.

The play was adapted from “The Cotton Patch Version of Matthew and John” by Clarence Jordan with country songs, the final work of Harry Chapin.

Actors Stephen Baldwin and Jeffrey Querin (Boardman) perform with a live bluegrass band. Band members include Tom Weaver of Harrisburg, Pa., DJ DePanicis of Niles and Dan Kalosky of Youngstown.

Along with the show, Das Dutch Village Inn provides a four-course meal featuring a buffet style dinner with three entrees, assorted potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Also included in the meal are a variety of fine desserts and a low-sugar option.

Groups can sit eight or 10 persons to a table, which makes for great enjoyment with friends and family throughout the evening.

All dinner theaters are in the banquet center of Das Dutch Village Inn of Columbiana, 150 E. state Route 14. Seating for evening shows begins at 6:45 p.m., with a four-course meal beginning at 7 p.m. Seating for matinees begins at 11:45 p.m, with a four-course meal at noon.

Tickets are $40 ($35 matinee); discount given for groups of eight or more.
