Two sent to hospital after crash

A two-car accident Thursday along U.S. Route 422 sent both drivers to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, according to police and fire officials.

The accident occurred along a stretch of road where construction has closed south-bound lanes for several weeks. Opposing lanes come together around a bend in 422. William Cupan, 1933 Youll St. in Niles, was northbound when his vehicle collided with a southbound vehicle driven by James Smythe, of Broadway Avenue.

The hospital would release no information on their conditions. No charges have been filed.
