STORM UPDATE: Wing Fest canceled for tonight but show will go on Saturday

While today's storm knocked out the Wing Fest at the Covelli Centre Friday night, organizers said the show will go on as scheduled Saturday.

Covelli Centre Marketing Manager Kelsey Rupert just issued the following statement:

"The First Place Bank Greater Youngstown Wing Fest Presented by Miller Lite and Rollin Smokes will open at noon as scheduled [Saturday] for the Drive Magazine Car Show along with a limited number of food vendors.

"The main stage area will open at 5 p.m. with local openers performing in front of Michael Stanley and the Resonators.

"On Friday evening, the Covelli Centre experienced severe weather that [caused] the facility to cancel The Clarks’ performance. Tickets to The Clarks concert that were purchased in advance will be refunded at the point of purchase."

Elsewhere, the storm is being blamed for one death in Trumbull County.

Thoughout the area, trees were downed striking homes and powerlines. Streetlights and power are off throughout the area. Especially hard-hit was the South Side of the city.

Part of the roof of the Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Church, 1812 Oak Hill Ave., was torn off during the storm that hit at about 5 p.m.
