Simon-Matulja wedding plans are announced

WARREN

Richard and Barbara Simon of Warren are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Johnna Frances Simon, and Richard V. Matulja.

The bride-elect earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Miami University of Ohio, where she graduated magna cum laude. She also earned a master’s degree in media arts from Emerson College. She is area director of communications and technology for Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, W.Va.

The prospective groom, son of Richard and Traci Matulja of New Waterford and Michael and Brenda Korchnak of Columbiana, attends Ohio State University, pursuing a degree in construction management. He is an associate manager of Applebee’s in Charles Town, W.Va. He is a private first class in the 290th Engineering Detachment of the Ohio Army National Guard in Ravenna.

Invitations will be extended for the wedding the couple have planned for 2:45 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Gazebo and Barn in Salem, and for the reception that will immediately follow.
