Mahoning commissioners advertise for bids, approve funding for county projects

YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County commissioners voted to advertise for bids for the repaving of 6.6 miles of Mahoning Avenue from Rosemont Road in North Jackson to the Portage County line.

County Engineer Richard A. Marsico estimated the job will cost about $2 million.

The commissioners also awarded contracts today to Utility Contracting Inc. of Youngstown for a $160,891 storm sewer upgrade on Mahoning Avenue in North Jackson and a $70,904 storm sewer upgrade on Glenwood Avenue just south of Boardman High School, both flood-prone areas.

They also awarded an $11,673 contract to Foust Construction of Liberty Township for a culvert replacement on Four Mile Run Road in Austintown.
