Roy, a Canfield High School junior, is a member of the Key Club, which the Western Mahoning County Kiwanis Club sponsors.
The club also welcomed Chuck Smith, a new member. He will be installed July 29 by A. Alan Penn of Medina, Ohio, the incoming international Kiwanis president, at the 95th anniversary party of the Kiwanis Club of Youngstown.
Western Mahoning County Kiwanis Club members are participating in the Ohio District service project by collecting new socks for Hannah’s Socks, a nonprofit organization that gives socks and other clothing items to those in need. Visit www.hannahssocks.org for more information.
All Kiwanis clubs in the Ohio District are urged to collect new socks and take them to the Ohio District Convention, which will be Aug. 12 through 14 in Toledo. The goal is to collect 50,000 pairs of socks.
President Barb Smith will represent the club at the Ohio District Kiwanis Foundation’s annual golf outing. This year the foundation gave the club a grant for its Thanksgiving basket giveaway.
