Girard crash sends 2 drivers to hospital

GIRARD

A two-car accident Thursday along U.S. Route 422 sent both drivers to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, according to police and fire officials.

The accident occurred along a stretch of road where construction has closed southbound lanes for several weeks.

Opposing lanes come together around a bend in 422. William Cupan. 1933 Youll St. in Niles, was northbound when his vehicle collided with a southbound vehicle driven by James Smythe, 528 Broadway Ave.

The hospital would release no information on their conditions. No charges have been filed.
