Ohio weather to stay hot Thursday and raise the sizzle factor

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — This week’s stifling heat across Ohio is about to get hotter.

Highs in the low to mid-90s are in today’s forecast throughout the state, with even more sizzling temperatures to come.

The National Weather Service looks for Cincinnati and Columbus to reach 99 degrees on Thursday, while Toledo could soar to 105.

It could feel even warmer sooner in the western-most counties. The weather service has an area including Cincinnati, Dayton and Lima under an excessive heat warning because of a combination of heat and humidity that will make it seem as hot as 112 today and Thursday.

A hospital in Dayton tells the Dayton Daily News several cases of heat-related illness have been seen in recent days.

Columbus is opening some fire hydrants to help residents cool off.
