Final Greatest Junior qualifier is Thursday

The Vindicator’s Greatest Golf program continues on Thursday with the Junior qualifier at Tam O’Shanter Golf Course in Hermitage, Pa.

So far, 12 boys and 12 girls have qualified for the Greatest Junior finals on July 31 at Trumbull Country Club.

They’ll be joined by the top four boys and four girls qualifiers on Thursday at Tam O’Shanter’s layout, which measures 6,537 yards and is a par-72.

The Greatest Junior Golfer tournament is sponsored by The Vindicator and Farmer’s National Bank.

All players who competed in the tournament are eligible for $5,000 in scholarships provided by PowerBilt Golf and Golf Headquarters in Boardman and Niles.

So far, the boys qualifiers for the finals on July 31 are Brandon Pluchinsky of South Range, Dominic Carano of Canfield, Max Pikunas of Cardinal Mooney, Joe Benson of Canfield, Dominic Patella of Cardinal Mooney, James LaPolla of Warren John F. Kennedy, Joey Canann of Warren John F. Kennedy and Bart Wyss of Salem.

The girls who have qualified are Jacinta Pikunas, of Cardinal Mooney Christina Cooper of Canfield, Kelly Fleming of Canfield, Annie McGlone of Canfield, Kelsey Teaberry of Warren John F. Kennedy, Giana DiBenedetto of Poland, Lianna Tucci of Heartland Christian and Gina DePasquale of Hubbard.

More than 50 players will vie on Thursday to join them for the finals.
