Recycling center robbed

YOUNGSTOWN

Police arrested one of two men who allegedly robbed a recycling center on the city’s north side.

Joseph Nance and Lenny Vaughn, both 20, held at gunpoint a manager and employee of R G Recycling, 2351 Hubbard Road, at 8:35 a.m. Monday, according to police.

After the manager knocked one of the suspects to the ground, the two suspects grabbed $6,000 and fled in a vehicle. A customer followed the vehicle and saw the two change vehicles at Thornhill Road. The two men lost the witness, but Nance was later found hiding at 1103 Catalina Ave, according to police.

Police are still looking for Vaughn.

Felony charge

NORTH LIMA

A 47-year-old Bronx, N.Y., man was charged with felony trademark counterfeiting Monday morning.

Zhou Zhi Xian was arrested about 1:20 a.m. Monday on a traffic stop during which he also was cited for not having a driver’s license, driving left of center and not having a license plate light, police said.

Xian was stopped on Market Street, just south of North Lima.

Beaver Township Police Chief Carl Frost said Xian’s van contained counterfeit Coach purses, Oakley sunglasses, Chanel watches and other fake designer items valued at thousands of dollars.

After consulting with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Frost said he learned that Xian had already been ordered out of the country once before.

Xian was taken to Mahoning County jail.

Child-luring warning

Shenango Township Police are warning of a possible child-luring attempt behind Shenango High School.

Three girls, whose ages weren’t given, were approached by a man who asked them to help him look for his dog at 6:40 p.m. Thursday.

They ran to their parents, who were watching a baseball game.

Police were notified Friday.

They notified the media Monday.

The man was in his mid- to late 30s with short dark hair, a beard and mustache and a thin build.

The man was driving an older burgundy car, possibly a Buick or Cadillac, police said.

Assault charges

A man is charged with three counts of assault, all first-degree misdemeanors, after he shot at three children with a soft air gun, police said.

Jacob Dylon Fisher, 19, of 43 Hawthorne St. was arraigned Monday.

He was taken to Mahoning County jail in lieu of posting a $9,600 bond, Struthers police and court personnel said.

The jail had no record yet Monday afternoon of his incarceration there.

Police were called shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday by a man who said a neighbor just shot at children with a BB gun.

The man’s 10-year-old son and 8-year-old nephew were hit, and his 14-year-old son was shot at, he told police.

The police report says that when they arrived, Fisher was standing in front of his house and he admitted shooting the children “because they were at his house.”

Businesses burglarized

Three Neshannock Township businesses on Wilmington Road were burglarized over the weekend.

The break-ins occurred sometime Sunday into Monday, police said.

Cash and change were stolen from the Dairy Queen, the Beer Depot and Painters Auto Service, police said.
