Parents in disbelief over Calif. molestation probe

CITRUS HEIGHTS, Calif. (AP) — Parents were reacting in disbelief after authorities shut down a private elementary school in Northern California over allegations of child molestation.

The California Department of Social Services shut down the Creative Frontiers School in the Sacramento suburb of Citrus Heights on Monday after several former and current students made allegations against the school’s owner and principal.

Citrus Heights police spokesman Jon Kempf says Robert Adams is under investigation.

Cristina Azocar brought her 3 1/2-year-old son by the school this morning. She says he has been in a daycare program for preschoolers for four weeks. Azocar says she is in disbelief because the children are attached to Adams.

A message left with the principal’s attorney was not immediately returned.

Citrus Heights is about 20 miles northeast of Sacramento.
