Big fifth inning helps Rondinelli rally

Justin McGinnis hit a two-run triple in the fifth inning as Rondinelli Tuxedo’s bats came alive en route to an 11-8 victory over the Summit County Vipers in a CABA World Series game Monday at Cene Park.

Joe Killian, Dan Ferguson, Mike Hickman and Alex Kashou also drove in runs in the fifth as Astros scored 10 runs in the frame.

Jeff Revesz went six innings to get the win.

For Summit, Ryan Wonders had two hits and two RBIs.

Astro Falcons 9, Lake Erie Bulldogs 7

Dan Mioni hit a three-run double in the first inning and Astro added four runs in the fifth inning to rally from a 7-5 deficit of the Falcons’ opener in pool play.

Kyle Tisdale hit a two-run triple in the crucial fifth inning and Dan Popio doubled and scored twice for Astro.

For Lake Erie, Anthony Smith had three hits.

WARREN AA Sunrise Inn 7-7, New Hamburg Hounds 0-0

New Hamburg forfeited both games of the doubleheader. Sunrise Inn (20-8) finished with the best record in the regular season.

Mahoning Valley Knights 4, Cardinals 0

Pitcher Joe Collins fired a four-hitter as the Knights (19-9) finished second.

Rick DiMuzio went 3 for 3 with a double and a run.
