CAR SHOWS

Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Drive, Boardman, is having a car/motorcycle and craft show “Christmas in July” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 30. Preregister your vehicle for $8 by calling 330-318-3610 or register the day of the event for $10. Ten trophies will be awarded for the top cars/bikes. Goodie bags will go to the first 100 entries. The first 50 get a free T-shirt. Also featured will be a basket auction, a 50-50 drawing, numerous giveaways, music and concessions.

CARD, BINGO PARTIES

Our Lady of Hungary Church, 545 N. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown, will have a basket bingo party at 2 p.m. July 31 at Cardinal Mindszenty Hall. Refreshments will be served. Admission is $5, and proceeds will help the church pay bills.

A Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament will take place Aug. 7 during the St. Patrick Church Festival at the parish center, 225 N. Main St, Hubbard. Cash games begin at 11 a.m., and the tournament starts at noon. Buy-in is $50 with an 80 percent payout. Preregistration is required. Food and water will be provided. FESTIVALS/FAIRS

Lifecare Ministry Center, 5357 S. Raccoon Road, Canfield, is having a summer fest fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 6 (rain date is Aug. 13). Activities include a yard sale, craft sale, games for children, face painting, food and music. Spaces are available for rent for $20.

William Penn Fraternal Association is sponsoring its annual end-of-the-summer fest Sept. 17 at Scenic View Park, Rockwood, Pa. The event begins at noon and ends about 6 p.m. In conjunction with this all-day event, the WPA will celebrate its 125th anniversary. A special performance by the RAJKO ensemble from Budapest, Hungary, will be given. A 46-seat bus has been chartered by Youngstown Branch 28 of William Penn. The bus will depart from Boardman Red Lobster at 8 a.m. and arrive back in Youngstown about 10 p.m. The cost for the bus trip is $35 per person, which includes transportation and admission. TNR of Warren and Cats Are People Too! will have a one-day flea market Aug. 6 at Ponderosa Steakhouse, Elm Road, Warren. Spaces are available to rent at $15 for two spaces. Call 330-330-8166. SALES

Berlin Center Historical Society is conducting a community yard sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 29 and 30. Maps can be picked up at local businesses.

Liberty Presbyterian Church, 1451 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, is having a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 4, 5 and 6. Items include household items, books, clothing and furniture.

National Slovak Society’s Assembly 731 members are organizing a flea-market-type garage sale from 10 am. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Countryside Farm, 4684 Center Road, Poland. The cost is $10 to rent space to sell items. Proceeds will go to the Beatitude House, and the Slovak society will match up to $400 toward the benefit. Hours Aug. 5 will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and hours Aug. 6 will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Food and a bake sale will be available.

St. William Church, 5431 Mahoning Ave., Champion, will have a rummage sale from 9 am. to 7 p.m. Aug. 4, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 5 and from 8 a.m. to noon Aug. 6 in the church social hall. A light lunch will be available for purchase Aug. 4. Aug. 6 is bag day, small for $1 or large for $5.

Upton Association’s annual garage sale will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Upton House, 380 Mahoning Ave., in downtown Warren. Items will be sold in the house, in the garage and on the patio. Area residents are encouraged to donate items for the sale on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Volunteers are needed. SPECIAL EVENTS

Animal Welfare’s Thrift Store, the Menagerie, 6037 E. Market St., Howland, will have Christmas in July. Each week will there will be special sales on Christmas items. The store is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

The 79th Annual Serbian Day Picnic will take place from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church hall and pavilion, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown. Libby’s Tamburitzans and Radost of Pittsburgh will provide musical entertainment. Traditional foods available include chicken paprikash, barbecued lamb and pork, cevapcici (grilled sausage dinner with Serbian potato salad), Serbian rice, homemade doughnuts and apple strudel. Butler Institute of American Art has planned a four-day, three-night bus trip to Chicago from Oct. 27 through 30. Participants will stay at The Palmer House, located in the heart of the city, nicknamed “The Loop.” The hotel is within walking distance to Millennium Park, the Magnificent Mile shopping district, The Art Institute of Chicago, the theater district and more. The tour will include a visit to the residence and studio of Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) and several of the prairie-style residences that he designed, and stops at the Madron Gallery and The Art Institute. Youngstown Chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Epsilon Mu Omega and Delta Delta are sponsoring a bus trip to Washington, D.C., Aug. 27-28 to the dedication ceremony of Martin Luther King Jr.’s National Memorial. The bus will depart at 7 a.m. Aug. 27 from McDonald’s on Belmont Avenue and will depart Washington for Youngstown at 4 p.m. Aug. 28.
