Todd Hankins hit a sacrifice fly to score John Barr with the game-winning run in the 11th inning as the Mahoning Valley Scrappers outlasted the Jamestown Jammers 6-5 in a New York-Penn League game on Sunday.

After giving up three runs in the ninth inning, the Scrappers played small ball in the 11th to win. Mahoning Valley’s Cody Elliott led off with a single, then moved to second on Jerrud Sabourin’s sacrifice bunt. After Jammers pitcher Curtis Peterson intentionally walked Henry Dunn, Barr singled to right, moving Elliott to third and Dunn to second.

Hankins then flied out to left for the decisive run.

Nathan Striz pitched around a two-out walk in the bottom of the 11th to get the save.

Jordan Smith went 3-for-5 with two doubles and scored a run for the Scrappers (17-13), who pulled even with the Jammers in the Pinckney Division standings.

Barr and Elliott each added two hits and Elliott scored three runs. Alex Lavisky hit a solo homer in the fifth, helping the Scrappers take a 3-0 lead. After the homer, Elliott singled, Sabourin reached on an error and both scored on a double by Aaron Siliga.

Terrence Dayleg had three hits and two RBIs for Jamestown. The two RBIs came on a two-out double in the bottom of the eighth that allowed Jamestown to pull even.

The Scrappers will finish their three-game series at Jamestown tonight, then return home for a two-game homestand against State College beginning Tuesday night.
