Generous donors help Ohio dog hurt in break-in

LIMA, Ohio (AP) — A flood of donations has paid for surgery for an Ohio dog apparently injured during a store break-in.

Owner David Murphy says his Jack Russell terrier, Cindy, is a grouchy after an operation on Friday that fixed her damaged front leg with a plate and screws. The Lima News reports the dog will have trouble using the leg for months.

Murphy says he found Cindy injured on July 10 when he went to his check on her at his leather goods store, which was closed that day in Lima. He also found a tennis racket he believes a burglar used to beat the dog.

The owner says donors contributed more money than was needed for the dog’s surgery. He’s making the extra available for others who need animal care.
