Mosquito Lakeview Discovery Day set

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Mosquito Lake invites anyone interested in the outdoors to attend Mosquito’s Lakeview Discovery Day, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Lakeview Recreation Area, off state Route 305 near the Mosquito Lake dam. Among the events will be the grand opening of a new fishing pier at the recreation area; boating and water safety, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Birds in Flight rehabilitator Heather Merritt displaying live owls and hawks, 11 a.m. to noon; hot-dog grilling at noon; history of Mosquito Lake, 12:30 p.m.; and an interpretive trail walk, 1 p.m. For more information, call the resource manager’s office at 330-637-1961.

YOUNGSTOWN

The schedule is full for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s mobile-outreach center’s visit Friday to the Youngstown unit of the NAACP to hear complaints of employment discrimination based on race, religion, sex, national origin, age (40 and older), disability or retaliation.

The local unit, however, will accept walk-ins Friday and allow them to fill out an application that the individual can mail to the EEOC. The commission will then contact the person by telephone and conduct an interview, said officials with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

The local office is at Suite 721 in the PNC Bank Building, downtown.
