Birds, hotdogs and a new pier planned for Mosquito's Lakeview Discovery Day

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Mosquito Lake invites anyone interested in the outdoors to attend Mosquito’s Lakeview Discovery Day, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Lakeview Recreation Area, off state Route 305 near the Mosquito Lake dam.

Among the events will be the grand opening of a new fishing pier at the recreation area; boating and water safety, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Birds in Flight rehabilitator Heather Merritt displaying live owls and hawks, 11 a.m. to noon; hotdog grilling at noon; history of Mosquito Lake, 12:30 p.m.; and an interpretive trail walk, 1 p.m.
