Names to be added to memorial
LOWELLVILLE
American Legion Post 247 in Lowellville is planning to add names to the Lowellville Veterans Memorial in front of City Hall.
Anyone who is a veteran from Lowellville or related to a veteran from Lowellville who served during time of war and would like their name added to the memorial is asked to call Everett Oliver at 330-536-6575.
Lowellville veterans who served during World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War and since August 1990 until now are eligible. Addition of the name to the memorial is free. Proof of service may be required.
The Veterans Memorial Committee thanked Gary Slaven of Falcon Foundry for making the upgrade possible.
Reunion planned

The Tri-State Detachment 494 of the Marine Corps League will have its 32nd annual Marine Corps Reunion on Aug. 13 at the Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road. The event is open to all Marines past and present and their friends and guests.
Festivities begin with refreshments at 6 p.m. Dinner is at 7 p.m., followed by the speaker and music and dancing until midnight. The evening also includes door prizes, an auction and a 50/50 raffle.
Tickets are $25. Reservations can be made by calling Frank Griffiths at 330-533-2314.
The speaker is Marine Lt. Col. Joseph Raferty, a graduate of Millersville University of Pennsylvania who enlisted in the Navy Reserve in 1986 and was accepted into the Marine Corps Platoon Leaders Course, a program for those who wish to become commissioned officers. He was commissioned in 1991 and was assigned as a logistics officer.
During his career, he served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. His personal decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
