LOCAL TOPICS on tv

“Community Connection” (7 a.m. Sunday on 21 WFMJ-TV, and 10 a.m. Tuesday on Time Warner Cable community access channel): Ricky George, chairman of Mahoning Valley Task Force on Crime and Violence Prevention, will discuss the youth summit, “The Truth: How One Decision Can Impact Your Life,” scheduled for Tuesday. Next, Northeast Ohio’s foremost magician and illusionist John Steven Bloom will visit to preview his upcoming family show at Youngstown Playhouse. Bloom, along with Bill Bishop and Carlin the Continental Conjuror will perform.

“Increase the Peace” (6:30 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday on MyYTV): Host Andrea Mahone talks with guests Carl Keyes and Denis Robinson of Aid for the World. The topic is a new coffee company coming to Youngstown.

“Sunday Morning with Dee Show” (8 a.m. on WKBN-TV 27): Host Dee Crawford talks with guests Renee McConnell and Alicia Pattillo of the Rich Center for Autism. The topic will be a grant for outreach efforts.

Volunteers sought

CLEVELAND

Severance Hall, home of the Cleveland Orchestra, is seeking volunteer ushers, greeters, ticket takers, tour guides, and store clerks for the 2011-12 season. The season includes concerts by Cleveland Orchestra (evening, matinee, education, family, and holiday events) and performances by other ensembles including Cleveland Pops Orchestra, Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony, and the Cleveland Women’s Orchestra, as well as other musical and nonmusical events.

Tour guides conduct public and private tours and offer historical and architectural details about Severance Hall. Store volunteers offer sales assistance in the Cleveland Orchestra Store. Severance Hall also seeks middle- and high-school students to join the Junior Volunteer Corps.
