Hubbard First Presbyterian Church, 22 Westview Ave., plans an outdoor service at 10 a.m. July 24 in the Steiner Pavilion located next to the church lower parking lot.

Special music during and after the service will be presented by the Noble Brothers of Coitsville.

Light refreshments will be served.

Gospel hymn sing

A gospel hymn sing-along is planned July 23 at New Life Christian Fellowship, 2088 Tibbetts-Wick Road.

A time of fellowship will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the music at 7.

Labyrinth walk

Villa Maria, Pa.

Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center will host a guided labyrinth walk from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Villa Maria Community Center. The theme walk is “Awaken to Healing.”

The labyrinth is a tool for enriching the spiritual journey.

Sister Therese Pavilonis will offer a brief history and introduction before the walk.

No registration is required but is appreciated. Free-will offerings will be accepted.

Guest speaker

Kari Dobranchin of Youngstown will be guest speaker Sunday at Love Christian Center, 411 Hamilton Ave., where Bruce Richael is pastor.

The theme is “Restoring Victory to the Victims.”

She will speak on seeing the hand of God in a turbulent life.

At the special youth group meeting, ice cream sandwiches will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the program will follow.

The church band, Saved, will play.

Dobranchin attends Jesus Is the Way World Outreach Ministries, where her grandmother, Barbara Dobranchin, is pastor. She attends National College in Youngstown and Kenneth E. Hagins Correspondence School, Broken Arrow, Okla., to earn a diploma in ministry school.

Concert at church

The Bartholomew Family will perform in concert at 6 p.m. July 24 at Zion Hill Church of the Brethren, 14550 New Buffalo Road.

Volunteers needed

The local planning committee of the One Church One Child’s transportation subcommittee is seeking help from churches and faith-based organizations that are willing to volunteer some level of transportation (van or bus) to transport attendees to OCOC National Conference.

The event will take place locally.

A driver must accompany each available van or bus.

Homecoming event

St. Jacob’s United Church of Christ, 5219 St. Jacob-Logtown Road, will have a homecoming celebration at its 10:30 a.m. July 24 worship service as one of several activities planned for its 200th anniversary.

The event will include former ministers.

There will be a chicken barbecue.

Church carnival

Mineral Ridge Church of Christ, 3911 Main St., will sponsor a free carnival at 5 p.m. July 23 to begin the vacation Bible school week.

It offers food, games and fun.

The program will be from 6 to 8 p.m. July 24-29 with the theme, “Inside out & Upside Down on Main Street.”

First Friday Club

The Rev. George Smiga, who is on the faculty of St. Mary Seminary and Graduate School of Theology in the Diocese of Cleveland, will be the featured speaker for the First Friday Club on Aug. 4 at Antone’s Banquet Centre, Market Street. His topic will be “The Fear of Rome: Why Jesus’ Crucifixion was Dangerous.”

Father Smiga is the author of “Pain & Polemic: Anti-Judaism in the Gospels” and “The Gospel of John Set Free: Preaching without Anti-Judaism.” He is a regular author for “Living with Christ” and “The Faith Connection.”

Baptist convention

New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St., will host the Rev. Stephen Sullivan, president of Ohio Baptist General Convention, as guest speaker at a worship service at 10:40 a.m. Sunday. An opening musical celebration also is planned at 6 p.m.

The convention will be Monday through Thursday at the church.
