A suspect in a June 25 shooting that injured a 23-year-old Union Street man has been arrested in a Los Angeles suburb by the U.S. Marshal’s Pacific Southwest Fugitive Task Force.

Julius McKinney, 22, previously of Dunstan Drive Northwest, was arrested Tuesday in San Gabriel, Calif. McKinney was located inside a residence and taken into custody without incident.

The arrest was made possible by information obtained by the U.S. Marshals’ Northern Ohio Fugitive Task Force with help from the Warren Police Department. Both agencies are part of the Violence Gun Reduction Interdiction Program (VGRIP) effort in Mahoning and Trumbull counties this summer.

McKinney will be kept in the Los Angeles County jail pending extradition to Ohio.

Gabriel G. Lofton Jr., 23, said McKinney shot him in the stomach at 3:09 a.m. June 25 during an argument at 805 W. Market St.
