Coaster-riding will take on a new meaning when Cedar Point hosts Coasting for Kids on July 24.

The special event helps raise money for Give Kids The World, a Florida-based nonprofit organization that provides weeklong vacations to children who have life-threatening illnesses and their families. To date, Give Kids The World has welcomed more than 101,000 families from all 50 states and 72 countries.

Cedar Point has participated in the event since 2009. In two years, it has raised more than $27,000 for the organization.

The 60 guests who raise the most pledge money will ride on the Gemini and Magnum XL-200 roller coasters. Each participant is required to raise at least $75 by Wednesday through their own fundraising page at www.firstgiving.com/gktw.
