POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:

GIRARD

July 8

Drugs: Police arrested Shannon M. Lipscomb, 25, in the 100 block of East Wilson Avenue on charges of possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. Lipscomb, of 2303 Willowbrook Drive NE, Warren, had a suspected crack pipe and a hypodermic needle with suspected heroin residue, a report said.

Aggravated menacing: Three juveniles in the 100 block of West Howard Street told police they were threatened with a machete; two of the victims said they were chased by someone with a large knife thought to be a machete.

July 9

Assault: An Abbey Street woman told police house guests spit on and tossed beer bottles at several youngsters age 12 to 15.

Theft: A woman reported two phones, two routers and medications stolen from her West Second Street residence. The loss came to $800.

Theft: A $20 lawn chair was removed from a patio area of a Patricia Drive apartment.

July 10

Criminal damaging: A woman reported a man in the 1000 block of Patricia Drive used a knife to slash one of her vehicle’s tires.

Aggravated menacing: An Iowa Avenue man told police that a furnace repairman threatened to kill him during an argument.

Theft: Two car-battery chargers were stolen off a box truck in the 200 block of West Liberty Street.

July 11

Harassment: Two Townsend Avenue men reported getting threats and harassing calls.

Criminal damaging: Someone threw a rock and broke a garage window in the 300 block of Moccasin Trail.

July 12

Attempted burglary: Police responding to a possible burglary in the 500 block of Park Avenue found the cover to an air-conditioning unit on the ground, though it appeared no entry had been made.

HUBBARD

July 7

Fraud: The owner of a West Liberty Street business filed a report against another former business owner.

Fraud: A Cyrus Street woman reported being a victim.

July 8

Criminal mischief: A School Street woman said that fireworks damaged her vehicle.

Recovered property: Someone found a debit card left in an automated-teller machine at a West Liberty Street bank.

July 11

Recovered property: A wallet and a set of keys were found in a parking lot in the 500 block of North Main Street.

Attempted fraud: A Fox Street woman reported a caller claiming she had won millions of dollars asked her to first pay a $600 licensing fee. The woman suspected a scam and lost no money, a report showed.

Fraud: A Bentley Avenue man told officers he received a letter and a check indicating a likely scam.

Theft: A man reported a leaf blower stolen from his truck in the 200 block of Parkview Drive.

Assault: A woman alleged a Caroline Avenue man had assaulted her.

LIBERTY

July 8

Theft/vandalism: Copper plumbing was stolen from a building in the 3400 block of Hadley Avenue, and a portion of property was vandalized.

Arrest: Brian J. Francis, 21, of 4697 Logan Gate Road, Liberty, was charged with failing to appear in court to face a felony theft count.

Theft/disrupting public services: A technician sent to the 4100 block of Logan Gate Road to investigate the loss of phone service to the area discovered someone had cut and stole about 150 feet of cable line. Authorities responded to a similar complaint two days later near Logan Way and Arms Drive.

Assault: A North Gate Drive woman reported a juvenile had grabbed a handful of her 11-year-old daughter’s hair.

Counterfeit: A woman unwittingly passed a fake $10 bill at a Belmont Avenue gas station. She was unaware the note was phony and was not charged with any crime.

Misuse of a credit card: A Holly Drive woman found three unauthorized charges totaling $71.74 to her bank card.

July 9

Arrest: Niles police handed 49-year-old James Binion, 2063 Wilson Ave. NE, Warren, to township authorities. Binion was wanted on charges of theft and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Theft: A woman discovered her wallet missing at a Belmont Avenue gas station.

Criminal damaging: A brick likely was used to break a basement window to a business in the 5000 block of Belmont Avenue.

Arrest: Police responding to an erratic driver charged 47-year-old Danita L. Wilson, 1308 Virginia Trail, Liberty, with driving under the influence.

Theft: Melanie A. Anderson, 38, of Tulsa, Okla., was charged with stealing three pieces of jewelry from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road. She also was wanted by Youngstown police on a theft charge.

Domestic violence: James R. Snowden, 26, of 530 Gypsy Lane, Liberty, was charged with domestic violence and possession of dangerous drugs after Snowden’s mother alleged he had threatened to kill her, then threw scrambled eggs at her. Two Vicodin tablets were in his pocket, police said.

July 10

Theft: Hope E. Sapp, 25, of 800 Chester Ave., East Liverpool, was charged with leaving Denny’s Restaurant, 4020 Belmont Ave., and failing to pay her $31 food bill.

July 11

Arrest: Police picked up 22-year-old Jarrell D. Martin, 1583 Shehy St., Youngstown, at the Girard Municipal Court. Martin was wanted on an outstanding warrant from the township.

Theft: Two people stole about $80 worth of merchandise from Big Lots, 3491 Belmont Ave.

Harassment: Three residents of a Church Hill Road home reported being the recipients of a series of such calls.
