YOUNGSTOWN

A witness said an 18-year-old Youngstown man shot his 35-year-old father in the arm and buttock at 6:04 p.m. Wednesday outside the suspect’s home in the 3600 block of Hudson Avenue on the South Side.

A relative took the victim to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where he was in stable condition. The relative said her sister called her to the house because an argument between the two men taking place in the yard was getting “out of hand.”

Relatives tried to calm both men down, but the younger man produced a handgun and fired several shots at the victim, striking him at least twice.

The suspect got into a car and fled on Hudson Avenue.

While family members waited for an ambulance, the victim began convulsing, so a family member took him to the hospital.

The victim told police later at the hospital that an argument started between his sister and her boyfriend, which caused the suspect to become involved. The victim then got involved, which led to the father and son wrestling in the yard.

The son walked away from his father “for a moment, then returned and fired several shots,” police said.
