Scrappers win 9-6

NILES — The Mahoning Valley Scrappers overcame a 4-0 first-inning deficit to defeat the Connecticut Tigers, 9-6, at Eastwood Field.

The Scrappers (16-11) scored five runs in the sixth inning to take a 9-5 lead. Todd Hankins’ two-run single and Cody Elliott’s two-run double were the big blows. Also for the Scrappers, Alex Lavisky hit a solo homer and Jake Lowery contributed a RBI double.

Natt Striz relieved starter Harold Guerrero in the fourth inning to earn the victory.
