Enterprise to expand electric fleet

Clayton, Mo.-based Enterprise Holdings Inc., the country’s largest rental-car company, is adding electric vehicles to three additional markets: San Francisco, Seattle and Portland, Ore.

Enterprise operates Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Alamo and National car rental brands. Beginning in January, Enterprise added Chevy Volt and Nissan Leaf electric vehicles to its rental offerings in Texas, Tennessee, Hawaii, New York and multiple cities in Southern California.

Enterprise spokeswoman Lisa Martini said Enterprise is following where car manufacturers offer EVs for sale, and then placing rental cars in those markets.

St. Louis was not one of the initial markets car manufacturers selected for electric vehicles, and a network of car charging stations doesn’t exist there. When that changes, electric vehicles will be added there, Martini said.
