Police: Exotic dancer 'on run' in child-death case

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Police say a Pittsburgh-area exotic dancer is on the run from charges that she left her two sons home alone without a baby sitter before a fire broke out that killed both boys.

Allegheny County police on Tuesday charged 27-year-old Kiaira Pollard, of North Versailles with criminal homicide and other crimes in the deaths of her two sons, ages 7 and 4, after the fire on June 30.

But on today, police say Pollard has refused to surrender and is believed to be “on the run” with another woman with “ties” to exotic dancing. Police say the other woman doesn’t yet face criminal charges, but could if she helps Pollard elude police.

Police charges Pollard after they could confirm her claims that she left her sons with a baby sitter and say she apparently disconnected a smoke detector in the apartment because it would go off when she cooked.
