Racing meeting set
Harrisburg, Pa.
The Pennsylvania Racing Commission will meet today to determine whether a racetrack and casino will become reality in Lawrence County.
Lawrence County Commissioner Dan Vogler told Vindicator news partner 21 WFMJ TV on Monday that the state could either approve the transfer of the Valley View Downs harness- racing license from bankrupt Centaur LLC to new owner American Harness LLC, deny the transfer or approve the transfer with additional conditions.
If the license is approved, American Harness will have to apply for an operational license through the Pennsylvania Gaming Commission.

Man faces charges
BOARDMAN
Police charged Jeremy Charles Bell, 25, of Boardman, with receiving stolen property and possessing criminal tools. Officers found Bell walking on Huntington Drive at Hunters Ridge around 5 a.m. Sunday, according to reports.
Police said Bell, who has a lengthy history of criminal activity, told officers that he couldn’t find his way out of the neighborhood because he was using a friend’s GPS. Police said they questioned Bell because the area had numerous reports of items stolen from vehicles during the past week, and an officer clicked “home” on the GPS, which listed an address in Virginia. Another officer noticed a Virginia license plate in the Huntington Woods area and spoke to the owner who stated her GPS was stolen out of her car Saturday afternoon, reports state. Bell was taken to Mahoning County jail.
Woman charged
WARREN
A 38-year-old Warren woman was charged with possessing harmful intoxicants, a misdemeanor, at 10:30 p.m. Friday after police were notified she was “huffing” spray-paint to get high.
Police observed the woman near a Jefferson Street Southwest residence, saw her drop a spray can containing gold paint and saw gold paint covering her hands, mouth and chest. Police also recovered a plastic bag with spray paint inside it.
The woman seemed slow, lethargic and unsteady on her feet, police said. She was taken to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation after she made suicidal statements to officers.
