“A Special Edition of Primetime With Diane Sawyer — Jaycee Dugard: IN HER OWN WORDS” (9 P.M., ABC): The veteran journalist conducts an exclusive, two-hour interview with the woman who spent 18 years in captivity after being kidnapped in 1991 at the age of 11. Dugard will be asked about her horrific ordeal, the reunion with her family and her upcoming memoir.

“Masterpiece Mystery!” (9 p.m., PBS): Julia McKenzie returns as Agatha Christie’s gentle sleuth Miss Marple, and this time, it’s personal. In “The Pale Horse,” she investigates the murder of a close friend (Nicholas Parsons) and finds herself drawn to an old inn run by a trio of witches.

“Curb Your Enthusiasm” (10 p.m., HBO): As Season 8 of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” opens, cranky Larry David realizes that a divorce from estranged wife Cheryl (Cheryl Hines) could be on the horizon. Will he be able to cope?

‘Bye Bye birdie’ at Playhouse

New Castle, Pa.

“Bye Bye Birdie” will open Friday at the New Castle Playhouse, 212 E. Long Ave.

The musical, directed by Michael Cavalier, will run for three weekends. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Sunday matinees begin at 2 p.m.

For reservations, call 724-654-3437. Ticket prices are $15 ($12 for seniors and students, and $10 for children age 12 and under). Group rates are also available for parties of 10 or more.

Victorian Weekend events planned

MERCER, PA.

The Mercer County Historical Society will have several events at its headquarters for Mercer’s Victorian Weekend, Saturday and July 17.

Civil War re-enactors will set up an encampment in the backyard at MCHS, 119 S. Pitt St., all weekend.

Saturday activities will include a used-book sale, an Underground Railroad walking tour, a display of old radios and a program on quilts.
