Poland’s Reardon verbals to Miami (OH)
POLAND
Poland quarterback Colin Reardon verbally committed to play football at Miami (Ohio).
Reardon (6-1, 195), who will be a senior this fall, earned first team all-conference and second team all-district honors last fall, helping the Bulldogs go 7-4 and reach the Division III playoffs. He also had scholarship offers to Kent State and YSU.
UFL’s Nighthawks add Clarett to roster
OMAHA, NEB.
The Omaha Nighthawks have added Warren Harding High graduate Maurice Clarett to the active roster.
Clarett spent last season with the United Football League team, calling it a chance to rebuild his life. The former Ohio State star was suspended by the NCAA for taking improper inducements, failed to make it in the NFL, then spent 31/2 years in prison for having a hidden gun and holding up two people outside a Columbus, Ohio, bar in 2006.
Clarett spent most of last season backing up Ahman Green as he got back into shape. The Nighthawks finished 3-5 after losing their last four games.
Warren’s Cowin wins at Manakiki
WILLOUGHBY HILLS
Ryan Cowin shot a four-under 68 to win the boys 16-19 division at Thursday’s Northern Ohio PGA Junior Golf event at Manakiki Golf Course. Cowin’s score was six better than Akron’s Jessie Stephens, who took second.
Poland’s Zachary Johnson shot an 83 to place second in the 12-year-old boys division behind Copley’s Zak Supelak (72).
Youngstown’s Pikunas first at Legend
CHARDON
Youngstown’s Jacinta Pikunas shot a nine-over 80 to outdistance second-place Olivia Jereb of Concord by six strokes and win the girls 12-15 division at Thursday’s North Coast Junior Golf tour event at Legend Lake Club.

Konerko, Victorino named All-Stars

Phillies outfielder Shane Victorino and White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko have been elected to the All-Star team by online fan voting.
Victorino beat out Andre Ethier of the Dodgers, Todd Helton of the Rockies, Mike Morse of the Nationals and Ian Kennedy of the Diamondbacks.
Konerko beat Detroit’s Victor Martinez, Kansas City’s Alex Gordon, Baltimore’s Adam Jones and Tampa Bay’s Ben Zobrist.
Dick Williams, 82, led A’s to World Series
HENDERSON, NEV.
Hall of Fame manager Dick Williams, who won two World Series titles with Oakland and led two other franchises to pennants, has died. He was 82.
Williams died from a ruptured aortic aneurysm at a hospital near his home in Henderson, Nev., the Hall of Fame said.
Kyle Busch romps to 5th Truck win
SPARTA, Ky.
Kyle Busch picked up his fifth NASCAR Camping World Truck Series win on Thursday night, roaring from the back row to win the 225-mile race at Kentucky Speedway.
The NASCAR star was ordered to the rear of the field at the start of the race for missing driver introductions, but had little trouble picking his way through traffic.
