Man hurt in Columbiana County plane crash

LISBON

A 61-year-old West Virginia man has been hospitalized with unspecified injuries following a single plane crash at 6:34 p.m. Thursday on state Route 267 in East Liverpool. The man’s name has not been released.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the man was flying a 1990 Derjager d IX Bi-Plane Experimental Aircraft northeast from the Columbiana County Airport when the plane lost altitude, banked to the southwest, struck a tree and landed in a private yard.

The accident is still under investigation.
