A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Liberty and Hubbard:
GIRARD
July 3
Attempted vehicle theft: An East Prospect Street woman said someone tried to steal her 2007 Saturn Vue.
July 4
Criminal mischief: A North Avenue woman found her vehicle covered with cooking spray.
Criminal mischief: Fireworks struck the passenger side of a car near North Avenue and Church Hill Road.
Aggravated menacing: An East Wilson Avenue woman told police her son and his girlfriend threatened her regarding work the son had failed to complete.
July 5
Criminal mischief: Someone tossed a full garbage can, a log and a concrete block into a swimming pool in the 100 block of Morris Avenue.
Theft/aggravated menacing: An East Prospect Street girl reported her MP3 player missing, and that she received threats online.
Aggravated menacing: A Shelby Street woman said a man threatened to harm her and the accuser’s dog.
Menacing: An Ella Street man reported a caller threatened him and his family.
LIBERTY
July 1
Criminal damaging: An apartment in the 3000 block of North Gate Road had damage to a door frame.
Counterfeit: A woman inadvertently passed a phony $10 bill at Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave., and was not charged with any wrongdoing.
Arrest: Officers in the 3500 block of Belmont Avenue responded to an altercation between a man and three woman, then charged 45-year-old Jeffrey L. Long, 62 Millet St., Youngstown, with obstructing official business and possession of drug paraphernalia after saying he tried to flee and failed to cooperate. Also taken into custody was Courtney A. Cobb, 21, of 372 E. Boston Ave., Youngstown, who was wanted on a felony parole-violation charge.
Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a shed at Pleasant Valley Church, 2055 Pleasant Valley Road, then removed a snow blower and a 10-horsepower portable generator. The loss was estimated at $2,900.
July 2
Arrest: Officers picked up 46-year-old John R. Lipscomb, 4788 March Ave., Youngstown, who was wanted by Girard police.
Criminal damaging: Fred Williams Jr., 22, of 2221 Goleta Ave., Youngstown, received a summons charging him with criminal damaging after a worker for Denny’s Restaurant, 4020 Belmont Ave., alleged Williams forcibly opened and damaged a door after he had argued with employees and was asked to leave.
Arrest: Acting on a tip, authorities arrested 28-year-old Karon D. Mohammed of Conway, Ark., who was staying at an apartment in the 500 block of Gypsy Lane. Mohammed was wanted by Garland County, Ark., police on a homicide charge.
Arrest: Police handling a dispute on Trumbull Court arrested Michelle D. Kimble, 26, of 3024 Idlewood Ave., Youngstown, on a disorderly-conduct charge. Kimble continually yelled profanities and refused to follow orders, a report said.
Aggravated menacing: A Kris Drive woman told officers a neighbor threatened to shoot her.
Arrest: A traffic stop on Belmont Avenue led to the arrest of 26-year-old Albert L. Peake Jr., 441 Jaronte Drive, Boardman, who was wanted on a traffic charge and accused of driving under suspension.
Arrest: Youngstown police turned over 33-year-old Desmond D. Cochrane, 1013 Beech Ave., New Castle, Pa., to township authorities. Cochrane was wanted on a warrant.
July 4
Weapon/drugs: Police responding to suspicious activity in the 3200 block of Belmont Avenue charged 22-year-old Adam H. Lee, 205 E. Main St., Girard, with carrying a concealed weapon, drug abuse and possession of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia. Found were a large folding knife, a bottle of pills in someone else’s name and a glass jar with suspected marijuana, a report showed.
Possible theft: A West Montrose Street man reported his wallet lost or stolen.
July 5
Theft: A man and a woman stole three Freon canisters from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road.
Arrest: Campbell police handed 25-year-old Nadine Mellott, 3839 Murray Ave., Campbell, to township authorities. Mellott was accused of failing to appear in court.
Recovered property: A Masury man in the 2900 block of Roosevelt Drive found an amplifier and a subwoofer that had been installed in, but stolen from, his girlfriend’s vehicle.
Theft: A man reported medical equipment stolen from his former James Lane residence. The theft came to $8,425.
Harassment: A Kris Drive woman reported receiving such calls.
Arrest: Officers responded to a possible domestic dispute on Lynn Drive, where they took into custody James P. Payton, 48, of 16 Lynn. Payton was wanted on an outstanding warrant charging him with a probation violation.
Theft: A man in the 1100 block of Leslie Lane reported the theft of a gas grill and scrap metal from his driveway.
HUBBARD
July 1
Assault: A man in the 200 block of West Liberty Street reported having been a victim.
Recovered property: A man on Youngstown-Hubbard Road found someone’s MP3 player in the road.
July 2
Recovered property: A vehicle’s front license plate was found on state Route 304.
July 4
Criminal damaging: A West Liberty Street woman found damage to her car’s windshield.
Menacing: A West Park Avenue man reported a neighbor threatened him.
July 5
Criminal mischief: Two juveniles were apprehended after police got a report of someone throwing eggs at vehicles in the 100 block of North Main Street.
Criminal damaging: Someone vandalized the courtyard at Roosevelt Elementary School, 110 Orchard Ave.
Criminal damaging: A man in the 800 block of North Main Street reported fireworks caused damage to his roof.
