The well-child immunization clinic will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Girard Health Department, 100 W. Main St. A $5 administrative fee will be charged per child.

Dr. James J. Enyeart, medical director, will conduct the examinations. Parents are reminded to bring a copy of the child’s immunization record. A parent or guardian must accompany children under 18. Parents must pre-register child before the clinic. Call the health department from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at 330-545-6048.

St. Joe’s at the Mall, next to Sears in Eastwood Mall, open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, is offering pneumonia vaccines by appointment. The cost is $48.

Medicare, Medicaid and Medicare HMO will be billed. Call 330-652-7542 for an appointment. Free blood-pressure screenings are offered from 9 a.m. to noon every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Also offered are “Strong Bones-Strong People,” a free 12-week program of personalized strength training and nutritional education for those who have osteoporosis or low-bone density; and “Weight Management through Strength Training,” which includes nutrition classes once a month on diet and behavior modification.

Cath-lab upgrade

SHARON, PA.

Sharon Regional Health System has upgraded its cardiac catheterization labs through the installation of a new $1 million cardiac/vascular diagnostic and interventional suite within its Heart and Vascular Institute.

The new system is fully digital and enables physicians to capture and view images of a patient’s vascular system while also decreasing a patient’s radiation exposure, officials said.

Partners for Urology Health, a joint venture of Humility of Mary Health Partners, NEO Urology Associates Inc., and Advanced Urology Inc., recently launched its new website, partnersforurologyhealth.com, to further showcase the center’s state-of-the-art care in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate and other urologic cancers.

The center is located at 6262 Mahoning Ave. In addition, each urology group maintains offices in the center so patients can see their urology physician and have their radiation treatment all in the same building.

Partners for Urology Health offers image guided radiation therapy, technology that improves the accuracy of the radiation field placement and reduces the exposure of healthy tissue during radiation treatments.

UPMC accolades

UPMC Horizon, with campuses in Farrell and Greenville, Pa., recently earned the maximum achievement level for fiscal year 2011 in the Highmark QualityBLUE program.

UPMC Horizon received high scores on four quality indicators: re-admissions, surgical safety, perinatal care, and venous thromboembolism prevention and care coordination.
