Witness challenged in Ohio 11 slayings trial
CLEVELAND (AP) — A lawyer for a Cleveland man on trial in the killings of 11 women has attacked the credibility of a witness who says she was raped and nearly choked to death by the defendant.
The woman returned to the stand today at the trial of 51-year-old Anthony Sowell and was cross-examined by defense attorney John Parker. She complained to the judge about the line of questioning.
The woman said she has struggled with drug addiction for 25 years and once used an alias. She said she had 10 drinks before she talked with Sowell at a bus stop.
She testified Tuesday that she fell naked from a third-floor window of Sowell’s house after she was raped.
Sowell has pleaded not guilty and could face the death penalty if convicted.
