The Trumbull County 4-H program will have a summer camp for youth ages 9 to 14 from July 31 to Aug. 6 at Camp Whitewood in Ashtabula County.
It’s not necessary to be a 4-H member to attend.
This year’s camp theme is “It’s a Jungle at Camp Whitewood.”
Included are traditional camping activities such as hikes, crafts, learning about animal and plant life, canoeing and swimming.
There will also be visits to an Indian fort, a covered bridge, natural rock formations, waterfalls, streams, and a six-acre lake.
Campers live in a cabin with 10 to 12 other children and two trained teenage counselors.
They eat family-style meals in the camp dining hall.
The camp is managed by Ohio State University Extension staff, trained volunteers, and permanent camp staff.
A nurse is on duty the entire week.
4-H Camp Whitewood is a 226-acre resident camp and is an accredited site of the American Camping Association.
The cost for camp is $230.

Registration applications and a $100 deposit are due by July 18.
