Tyler Slepski pitched six scoreless innings, Tony Mehle pitched the seventh and Dave Sugar scored its lone run in the seventh to win the best-of-three opening round playoff series 2-0. Cody Herald reached on a fielding error and Tyler Slepski doubled him home for the game-winner. Gino Cerini pitched a five-hitter and got the loss. Sugar will play Rondinelli today in the second round.

Roth Brothers 5, Sam Pitzulo Homes 3

Jake Haubrich had two hits, including a double and Roth Brothers took a 5-0 lead after three innings en route to the victory. Roth swept the series 2-0 and will play Astro today. Tyler Kernan got the win. Mike Watson and Kennan Locke each doubled for Pitzulo.

Cardinals 4, Hickory Hounds 1

Tony Koch tossed a four hitter as the Cardinals keep the Hounds at bay, 4-1. Ryan Fergusson hit an RBI triple for the Cardinals.

Hickory Hounds 4, Cardinals 1

In the second game of a double-header, the Hounds scored two in the third and two in the fourth to get the split, 4-1. Kyle Burton went two-for-two in the losing cause for the Cardinals.

Conneaut Arrows 7, Mahoning Valley Knights 6

The Conneaut Arrows and Mahoning Valley Knights combined for 30 runs and 38 hits in the doubleheader. The Arrows took the first game,7-6, topped by a five run fourth.

Mahoning Valley Knights 9, Conneaut Arrows 8

Andrew Beachy and Mike Floravit each hit two RBI singles for the Knights. The Knights added what proved to be the winning run in the fifth when Kevin Monti doubled and scored on Dave Piersante’s single.
