Man killed while lighting fireworks

LEVITTOWN, Pa. (AP) — Neighbors are remembering Ray Criblear as the man whose annual fireworks show every July 4 was one to be enjoyed and savored.

But now they’re mourning his death after one of the three-inch mortars he lit Monday night exploded prematurely, hitting him in the back of his head and killing him, police said.

KYW-TV said his neighbors were always impressed with his fireworks displays, with one, Patrick Boyle, calling him the “top dog.”

The Middletown Township fire marshal’s office is investigating the accident.
